‘The Silent Book’ will be revelatory for most of us as we learn the history of a “threatened” language once so vital in Australia. It is a fascinating tale in diverse ways: in its closeness to the colonial and rural context of its protagonists, its respect for indigenous naming and knowledge of that same landscape, its careful introduction of the reader into a chronology of thinking about deafness and ways of educating deaf children……

I am presenting some free community presentations on 'Retire Happy' for TOMET. The presentations are mainly targeting men about to retire or have already retired. The presentations look at the positives and also the negatives around retirement and the sometime loss of direction in their lives. The statistics show that one Australian man over 65 takes his life everyday, and lot of this is due to having no purpose in life or a combination of losing their spouse.
While the above is a negative outcome of retirement, Im also looking at the positives and how they can develop a new 'business card' for retirement and some positive strategies on creating a meaningful retirement.

What a fantastic night on Saturday at the Toowoomba Business Disability Awards. over a 100 people attended, and was memorised by the presentation of Moria Kelly. Moria spoke for over an hour and I think nobody in the room took their eyes off her. So inspirational and thought provoking but so down to earth.
Some pictures of setting up the venue, until it was fill with a great supportive Toowoomba Community. Many thanks to Burke Industries who presented the awards this year.
