About David WallisDavid's passion for advocating for social inclusion is underpinned by his deep personal connection. In the early 1990s, he discovered his son was profoundly deaf and so began his journey to communicate with him through sign language.
In the late 1990s, David became an accredited Para–Professional Sign Language Interpreter and it was at this time his career in the disability community sector began. Over the two decades that followed, David's expertise has extended into disability employment services and service delivery management in the not-for-profit sector. Two of David's career highlights include playing an integral role in the set up and development of Toowoomba's first social enterprise, Ability Enterprises Ltd and leading the development committee for the social enterprise, Bounce ‘hole in the wall’ coffee outlet, in Toowoomba’s main street. David's career has seen him partner with a number of local businesses and organisations, including for the roll out of the NDIS. Today, he is registered provider offering innovative support by connecting people to specific services, providing mentors and support workers, and fostering employment solutions. |
